Meet Ildiko
Ildiko Varhelyi
Ildiko (Ildi) Varhelyi was born and raised in Hungary. At the age of six she started playing basketball and was a member of A league teams for more than fifteen years. Even today, you may catch a glimpse of her shooting around or playing a game of pick up.
Ildi moved to the United States twenty years ago, and started working as a personal trainer for Boston’s most well known health club (where currently she teaches yoga). Meeting clients with injuries and a variety of physical limitations prompted her to go back to school and deepen her knowledge. She studied physical therapy, massage therapy, neurology, movement therapy, kinesiology, yoga, kinesiotaping, nutrition, breathing, and sport performance to provide better services for her clients and students.
In 2010 she founded Bodybyildi where she provided personal training, wellness coaching, movement, and rehabilitation therapy for Boston’s elite. A few years ago Ildi suffered from an incident that left her with a broken neck, injured spinal cord, and disabled arms. She opted for no surgery. Despite the debilitating injuries, she managed to fully rehabilitate herself. Today, Ildi is completely pain free and has resumed all her favorite activities; basketball, running, yoga, working out, indoor rock climbing, swimming and chess.
“It did not come easy, I had to work for it” – she says. “After the experience, I deeply understand what it means to be in pain, what it means not to be able to move, and how much the fear of moving might result in more injury. That fear itself can hinder and/or possibly break the recovery process”.
Through Ildi’s years of health and fitness education, combined with her professional and personal experiences, she founded NeuroCentric Health and Fitness (NCHF). NCHF is for those who have given up hope. Those who are disappointed with conventional rehabilitation and fitness solutions. Those who are ready to take charge of their own physical performance, health and well being.
